How to Request Deletion of Your Data
Your Right to Data Deletion
At Hippo, we respect your privacy and your right to control your personal data. If you wish to delete your data that we have collected through our services, including data from Facebook/Meta integrations, you can request deletion by following the instructions below.
What Data Can Be Deleted
You can request deletion of the following data:
- Account information (name, email, phone number)
- Practice information and preferences
- Usage data and analytics
- Data collected through Facebook/Meta integrations (lead form submissions, advertising data)
- Call recordings and transcripts (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Any other personal information we have collected
How to Request Data Deletion
Method 1: Email Request
Send an email to our privacy team:
Subject Line: Data Deletion Request
Include in your email:
- Your full name
- Email address associated with your account
- Phone number (if applicable)
- Practice name (if applicable)
- Specific data you want deleted (or "all data")
Method 3: Account Dashboard
If you have an active account, you can request deletion directly from your account settings in the dashboard.
Facebook/Meta Integration Data
If you've interacted with us through Facebook or Instagram (such as submitting a lead form through a Facebook ad), we collect certain data through Meta's platforms. To delete this data:
Step 1: Request Deletion from Hippo
Use any of the methods above to request deletion of your data from our systems. Make sure to mention that you interacted with us through Facebook/Instagram.
Step 2: Manage Your Facebook Data
You can also manage what data Facebook shares with third-party apps by:
- Going to Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites
- Finding "Hippo" in the list of apps
- Clicking "Remove" to revoke access
Processing Your Request
Timeline
We will process your data deletion request within 30 days of receiving your request. In some cases, we may need additional time to verify your identity or locate all of your data across our systems.
Verification
To protect your privacy, we may ask you to verify your identity before processing your deletion request. This may include:
- Confirming account details
- Responding to verification questions
- Providing additional identification
Confirmation
Once your data has been deleted, we will send you a confirmation email to the email address you provided in your request.
Important Notes and Exceptions
Legal Retention Requirements
In some cases, we may be required by law to retain certain data, such as:
- Financial records for tax and accounting purposes
- Healthcare records subject to HIPAA retention requirements
- Data needed to comply with legal obligations or ongoing litigation
- Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot be linked back to you
Account Deletion
If you request deletion of all your data, your account will be permanently deleted, and you will no longer be able to access our services. This action cannot be undone.
Backup Systems
While we will delete your data from our active systems immediately, it may take up to 90 days to remove your data from backup systems and archives.
Additional Privacy Rights
In addition to data deletion, you also have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Opt-Out: Opt out of certain data processing activities
